Today the MPS Emerald Society formally issued a response to the debate in
Ireland over the refusal to allow a member of the Garda Reserve who is a Sikh
Officer to wear a Turban whilst on duty. The MPS Emerald Society feels that it
is inappropriate for any MPS Staff Association to make comment on how another
country runs it's affairs and highlights some comments made by the Sikh
Association as offensive.

MPS Emerald Society attend the CHAMP St Patrick's Day Reception held at the
Houses of Parliament on 14th March 2007. At the reception the Emerald Society
used the opportunity to present Sir Ronnie Flanagan (Her Majesties' Inspectorate
of Constabulary) with the official plaque. Chick here for the story and photos

The MPS Emerald Society confirm that they will take part in this years St
Patrick's Day Celebrations in London, and have been positioned by the Mayor's
Office to be near the front of the parade... In an expansion of last years
participation there will also be classic police cars along with uniformed and
non-uniformed staff. For the first time ever members of the Irish Armies, Naval
Service will also be marching in the parade. There
will be a pre-meet for changing and also an exclusive after party to be held at
O'Neills in Wardour Street... All welcome including families. Food provided.

The MPS Emerald Society Pipes and Drums take delivery of their own set of drums.
This will hopefully take the Pipes and Drums forward and increase recruitment
into the section. If you are interested in joining the Pipes and Drums, we are
always looking for new members regardless of experience.
