N.C.L.E.E.S.
NCLEES is an organisation in the United States of America and stands for the National Conference of Law Enforcement Emerald Societies. It's aims are similar in many respects to that of the MPS Emerald Society. In 2007 the MPS Emerald Society secured membership of NCLEES in the form of an 'international affiliate status'. This was the first Emerald Society outside of continental North America to become a member, and we are proud of both our partnership and affiliation.
The objectives of the National Conference of Law Enforcement Emerald Societies are:
- To Unite all public safety Emerald Societies in order to develop fraternalism amongst its members;
- To preserve the Irish culture and to promote the contributions of our ancestors;
- To recognize the accomplishments of Irish-Americans in Law Enforcement and other public safety professions;
- To exchange information and enhance communications among member organizations and to start new public safety Emerald Societies;
- To provide a unified and effective voice for it's member organizations to the Congress of the United States and other government institutions;
- To work with civic and public safety
associations on areas of mutual concerns;
The governing body of the NCLEES consists of a nine (9) person Executive Board from across the country and a Board of Directors in which each member organization, regardless of size, has one (1) representative. There are also standing committees which include: Activities, By-Laws, Communications, Education, Fund Raising, International Liaison, Legislative, Memorial March, Pipe Band, Scholarship, and Recruitment.
NCLEES meet twice a year: May 14th - National Conference (during Police Memorial Week in Washington D.C.) and a Fall Business Meeting in a different host city each year.
MPS Emerald Society members have been able to attend the various conferences and events organised by NCLEES. This has provided a unique networking opportunity as well as the option of organised foreign travel within a like minded Irish Law Enforcement environment.
If you are interested in going to any of the events below please email us. We don't organise group travel (because this works out more expensive) but will publish an itinerary on request where you can book your own travel arrangements.
